This cover was designed for Young at the Time, a collection of stories by Eileen Chang, as part of Penguin Random House's Brief Encounters series. The design explores the novel's quiet tension between memory, fate and fleeting human connection. Inspired by Chang's restrained yet emotionally charged prose, I sought to create an image that feels both nostalgic and ambiguous—capturing the delicate boundary between recollection and reality. The visual language balances elegance with subtle symbolism, reflecting the timeless intimacy at the heart of these stories.
